Breaking Free From Socially Programmed Anxiety As Women

Have you ever felt like you’re constantly caught in a push and pull battle, striving to meet unrealistic expectations while also fearing being labeled as “too much?” This burden of socially programmed anxiety weighs heavily on many women’s hearts, and it’s all perpetuated by the patriarchy’s influence and unrealistic societal standards. Women constantly feel like they need to be more, do more, achieve more, and the list goes on. It’s a pressure that never lets up and leaves us in a constant state of fear and second-guessing ourselves. So how do we break free from this and tell anxiety to shove it? Keep reading to learn how!

Acknowledging the Pressure

The societal pressure placed upon women to excel, conform, and achieve, all while navigating life, career, motherhood, womanhood, etc, is relentless. From a young age, women and girls are bombarded with messages that they’re not doing enough, not meeting expectations, not doing the right things, and ultimately, that they’re just not enough, no matter how hard they try. 

They’re placed under a microscope and expected to strive for perfection, but not be seen as too ambitious or assertive. It’s a delicate (and impossible!) balancing act between being successful and “enough,” but not too much or too intimidating, confident, or arrogant. 

If you ask me, it’s high time to call out this narrative for what it is: complete and utter BS.

The Patriarchy’s Influence

These societal pressures and anxiety are all influenced by the patriarchy, and this is their sneaky way of influencing our brains for the worst, of controlling us, and keeping us small and compliant. 

They thrive on this control and use it to fill our heads with falsehoods that aim to convince us that we must shrink and reshape ourselves in order to fit the narrow mold of what is deemed as acceptable. But in reality, every single woman possesses immeasurable power, beauty, and potential. 

My Mission To Help Women Break Free

I talk with countless women who experience these same impossible standards, expectations, and relentless socially programmed anxiety, and it breaks my heart. As women, we deserve better than this! 

That’s why I’m on a mission to help women like you break free from the chains of socially programmed anxiety and reclaim their worthiness. Despite our flaws, our past, or our imperfections, we are inherently deserving of love, respect, and validation. We don’t need to live up to someone else’s version of perfection in order to be deserving of these rights.  

This journey starts with recognizing the lies we’ve been fed and embracing our true selves without apology. While it may not be easy, every small step towards self-acceptance and self-love chips away at the patriarchy’s hold on our minds, our bodies, and our lives. 

Together, we can stand up and refuse to be silenced, diminished, or made to feel small. Let’s embark on this journey of liberation and empowerment – together.
